Without a doubt, South Africa hosts some of the best and fun festivals on the continent. These festivals are held all around the country there’s no excuse why you would miss all of them. With these festivals you are guaranteed to create some cool memories whether with friends or family. Here’s a list of the ones you should never miss.

1. The Durban July
It’s Africa’s biggest horse racing event which is taking place on the 4th of July. With 56,000 people expected to be in attendance, it promises to be one heck of an event.

2. Joburg Day
Every year this music festival attracts thousands and thousands of jozi people to enjoy good local music and good food. With the best in local talent who’ve graced the stage in the past including Prime circle, Goodluck, Mi Casa it’s never short of good entertainment.

3. Splashy Fenn Music Festival
South African longest running annual music festival which attracts thousands of people every Easter to a farm near Underberg in KZN for a weekend of live music in a spectacular mountain setting. This year it runs from 2-6 April.

4. Cape Town International Jazz Festival
Known as the one of the grand slams of jazz festivals. Every year this event brings the best of Jazz artists and fans from around the globe and this year is no different.

5. Grahamstown National Arts Festival
Known as Africa’s largest and most colourful cultural event, this festival is set to run from 2-12 July this year.

6. South African Cheese Agri-expo Festival
For all the food lovers who enjoy food and some fun, here’s your turn to enjoy . From 25-27 April in Sandringham, Stellenbosch.

7. Taste of Joburg
Here’s a chance to enjoy food with other food lovers around joburg. Taking place at Monte casino outdoor event area in fourways from the 25-28 September.

8. National Arts Festival
It promises to be another amazing celebration of the best in performance and visual art in South Africa. Taking place from the 2nd to the 12th of July.

9. Ultra Music Festival South Africa
Miami’s supercharged Electrical Dance Music is returning to Mzansi in February, 13th in Cape town ostrich ranch and 14th in joburg at Nas rec Exhibition centre.

10. K-Day Music Festival
With the line up they have this year including Elvis BLUES, Goodluck, Micasa this is set out to be one of the best festivals in the country this year.
