SA Policeman Caught Stealing At a Shop In Soweto
Where there is smoke, there’s definitely fire. It seems like corruption in South Africa is not going anywhere and it’s staying permanently. A startling camera footage captured a policeman raiding foreigner’s shop in Soweto yesterday. Crowds gathered at the scene to witness what seemed like entertainment to them. “These policeman are not playing”, this remark came from one of the people in the crowd.
The policeman in a uniform was stealing items from the shop and was not even bothered by the crowd who witnessed it all. It was rather disturbing. He came out of the shop with tissues in both his hands and without hesitating; he quickly placed them inside the police vehicle which he arrived with. What then became shocking was when two men from the crowd went inside the shop and began stealing too. Clearly they saw this as a right thing to do since their leader (police) set an example. A bad example!
We have read and heard stories about SA police corruption growing rapidly and this is turning into an unpleasant direction. The South African Police Service admitted that hundreds of serving police officers are convicted criminals. The figures are shocking but they fail to reveal the full extent of criminality in the police.
There are a lot questions going through our minds right now. Is the Police System failing South Africans? What hope should we have now and is this going to be dealt with soon?
