10 Other Ways To Finance Your Studies
It’s January, and that means time to apply for college. Some students coming from high school and some are coming back for the second time for different reasons. In all the confusion of deciding which one is the best college to attend or what you should major in, you have to keep in mind how you’re going to pay for it. Not everyone has the support of parents and relatives in funding their studies. Here are some ideas on how you can finance yourself throughout college.
1. Apply for financial aid
If you don’t have the support of your parents to fund your college you have to apply for a financial aid early. If still in high school apply to as many colleges as you can so that you have several financial aid offers to compare.
2. Save early and save often
If you know you’re financing yourself you might want to save early and often. Instead of spending money unnecessarily you might want to evaluate yourself on what you’re spending on if it’s worth it or not. If you’re still in high school you might want to start now so that when the time comes you can pay registration and tuition with your savings even your first semester.
3. Apply for college scholarship
Ask if there are scholarships available for your major. Look for scholarships from your church, workplace, community and organizations you’re involved in.
4. Make extra cash
Most students pay their fees this way. Find a college that can allow you to work part time. You can attend a community college to maximize your savings and earning. Also choose a financially friendly college.
5. Enroll in public service programs
Most public service programs cover some college costs, so if you were going to go into any public service as a career this might be helpful.
6. Reduce your college expenses
If you’re struggling to pay your fees maybe it’s a great idea to cut all the unnecessary costs by living at home with your family. In that way you only focus only on the fees and not worry about food and living expense.
7. Save money on text books
Did you know your textbooks can help you through college? You can purchase used books from your college bookstore or find them cheaper from your friends who are done with theirs. Once you are done with them you can resale them or exchange them to get the ones you want.
8. Gift ideas
You can ask your relatives for contributions to your college funding. If you did well you never know who’ll be willing to help. You can ask them that instead of birthday gifts they can contributing to your college fund.
9. Volunteering
By volunteering especially in a job that is in line of what you’re studying, your bosses might be impressed and offer to pay your college fees.
10. Work at your school
Sign up with your school or campus to work at events, like during sports as a photographer, or get hired by your school to give tours.
