NowNovel.com is an exciting start-up that’s been around since 2012. The website is an online novel-writing course, aimed at the US market, based in South Africa, and run by a small team in Cape Town.

We are focused on first-time novel writers – think of it as paint by numbers for novel writing. The website offers question and answer systems that give you your novel outline, a critique forum for feedback on your novel and we’re about to launch groups next year (you’ll be helping us do this). We also advocate using one of our mentor/coaches to help keep you focused on the goal. The difference between us and other websites is that we highlight the importance of motivation as much as the craft. In terms of acquisition, we get the majority of our traffic through SEO (and predominantly through our blog: www.nownovel.com/blog)

The role would include:

• Six month duration from beginning February 2015
• Focus on marketing (content marketing, social media and SEO)
• Very hands on and practical, but not just doing the rubbish repetitive tasks
• Project as well as task based – we want you to own a project and be proud of your work

Things you will learn:

• How to grow, retain and interact with your prospects using social media
• The nuts and bolts of content marketing. What works, what doesn’t, and how to convert using social media.
• Management and set up of tools as well as how to create projects (finding the right content areas, briefing designers, copywriters, outreach, etc.)
• The basics of conversion rate optimisation (how to use GA, surveys, heat maps and other tools to create hypotheses and AB test)
