Job description
Living and Loving magazine is looking for a dynamic and experienced copy editor to join their editorial team in Johannesburg
Requirements:
A degree in English/Journalism or related field
A minimum of five years experience as a copy editor, preferably on a consumer magazine.
A sound knowledge of relevant computer software (Adobe Indesign)
A sharp eye for detail
Excellent time management and organisational skills
Team player
Ability to work to tight deadlines and under pressure
Good interpersonal communication skills
A knowledge of the parenting market would be an advantage

The candidate will be required to perform the following duties:
- Edit and refine copy produced for both print and online to ensure factual and grammatical accuracy, as well as the Living and Loving style and tone.
- Check all proofs during the production process to ensure text and layout are in sync.
- Sign-off dummy for print.
- Compile and maintain an editorial style sheet.
- Read and research trends in pregnancy, birth, early childhood development and parenting.
- Contribute editorial feature ideas.
- Occasional feature writing and compilation of regular department pages.
- Attend functions occasionally and engage with followers on social media.
