Omnia: Engineer Graduate / Internship Opportunity

Closing Date: 13 December 2014
Location: Killarney Gardens

Qualifications

The candidate should be studying towards or in possession of a degree in Chemical / Electrical Engineering

Experience

Fluent in English (reading and writing). Computer literacy

Duties

♦Draw Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) for all sections of the plant and keep them on records for reference purpose and plant improvements  ♦ Provide a high level technical support and technical assistance in the operations department, e.g. Research materials of construction and compatibility in relation with the chemicals  ♦ Maintain materials and equipment working with the maintenance team. Ensuring that the company has enough backup equipment to reduce downtimes and speed up productivity efficiencies  ♦ Monitor compliance with all health and safety rules as well as the environmental regulations. This includes emissions control via scrubbing of chemical fumes and also improving the effluent treatments  ♦ Mitigate the risk of exposure to the Environmental Authorities and will reduce the health risks for the employees and the surrounding communities  ♦ Develop support systems to facilitate research programs for improvements on production capabilities via research on the best production practice; improve production methods through infrastructural improvement. This will include research on process equipment automation; performing trial runs on different batches to determine residence times for the all blends. Also perform trial runs before a new blend is executed  ♦ This may help to improve the first run capability on blends, whilst ensuring enhanced customer service  ♦ Collate Operational manuals and prepare standard operating procedures and ensure documentation is available for all equipment and accessories  ♦ Undertake fundamental research tasks and engineering (eg. Designs) projects as required. E.g. pumps and piping design for better offloading of tankers and minimization of offloading times. In addition enhance infrastructure via automation, flow measurements which improve accuracy and first run capability  ♦ Ensure maintenance schedules on EAM are regularly updated with new assets and requirements. In addition ensure cleaning and regular pump, tank and pipeline inspections are conducted to avoid leaks which may impose health dangers and promote product losses  ♦ Preparation of control and inspection plans (e.g. Pumps) for the sections of the plant  ♦ Assist the Operations Manager and Supervisors by assessing the work undertaken by external contractors to ensure work undertaken is within agreed company specifications  ♦ Implement the hazard and operability study on different sections of the plant using different methods which include Hazard and Operability (HAZOP) study, Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), Event Tree Analysis (ETA) and What-If Analysis. This may improve operations efficiency and improve on safety and loss prevention:   ♦ Compile technical reports quarterly as this will detail the plant operations, improvements and infrastructures that are in place and some work works in progress. Also a specific technical report on the work that has been done. These objective of these graduate trainee posts will result in enhanced Operational effectiveness and efficiency within the plant through the following: Standardize and Enhance the Standard Operating Procedure Improved understanding of the site layout and dynamics Better decision making as a result of increased understanding Reducing downtime through effective systems implemented to prevent and respond to failures
