Girl Meets World’s Rising Star – Rowan Balnchard!
It’s here at last! After months of waiting, fans can finally see new series Girl Meets World, every Saturday on Disney Channel from 15 November at 09.45am.
Twenty years ago Boy Meets World was an iconic hit series, still fondly remembered by its many fans. Childhood high school sweethearts Cory and Topanga, stars of the original series, are now married, and it’s their daughter Riley who is experiencing the trials and tribulations of teenage life. In an interesting twist, dad Cory is now a teacher at her school!
Girl Meets World is set in New York City, and tells the wonderfully funny, heartfelt stories that “Boy Meets World” is renowned for – only this time from a girl’s perspective – as the curious and bright 7th grader Riley and her quick-witted BFF Maya embark on an unforgettable middle school experience.
Rowan Blanchard (who plays Riley) plays Riley in Girl Meets World. We take an in-depth look at this up and coming rising star!
Born on October 14, 2001, in Los Angeles, California, Blanchard began acting at the age of five when she was cast in an Advil commercial and asked to learn how to ride a bike in just two days. She hit her mark and pedalled herself right into the scene, establishing a steady commercial career by the time she was six. With more than a dozen national network commercials to her credit, Blanchard was cast as a series regular on the Disney Junior short form series “Dance-A-Lot Robot” in 2010.
She went on to land several feature films, including “The Back-Up Plan” with Jennifer Lopez as lead and a starring role in “Spy Kids: All the Time in the World 4D.” Moving into television, Blanchard was cast in the 2011 FOX pilot “Little in Common,” opposite Rob Corddry and Gabrielle Union.
In her spare time, Blanchard loves performing and singing Broadway show tunes and considers herself an expert in Broadway trivia. She enjoys listening to music and has a great passion for Classic Rock. She is also an avid reader, a straight-A student and dreams of one day attending an Ivy League school.
