Dr Nandipha Magudumane and Thabo Bester Fail to Stop Beauty and The Bester Documentary. Recently, Netflix announced that they are airing the Beauty and the Bester documentary. The documentary will shed light on Thabo Bester’s his life including how he allegedly faked his death and escaped from prison. Of course Dr. Nandipha Magudumana is a key player in the documentary as Bester’s co-accused and partner.
While viewers were looking forward to the documentary, Thabo and Nandipha took court action to block Netflix from broadcasting it. They argued that Beauty and the Bester was defamatory. Bester’s lawyer, Advocate Moafrika Wa Maila, said the documentary infringed his right to a fair trial.
“There is not proof that he had escaped. He has not yet been convicted on this. There are many reasons why a person is no longer in prison, such as parole. The documentary is a kangaroo court,” he told the court.
Netflix, however says Nandipha was paid for providing them with her archives, which were used in the Beauty and the Bester documentary. It is quite shocking that now she is attempting to interdict it,
Judge Potterill has struck Bester and Nandipha’s application from the roll, effectively dismissing their bid to stop the Netflix documentary. Netflix will release the documentary today as scheduled.
