State vs Oscar: …and He Walks

After 6 months of court proceedings and psychiatrist evaluation, the accused Oscar Pistorius was found guilty of culpable homicide. He was granted bail and his sentencing is set for the 13th of October 2014.
After facing premeditated murder charges following the fatal shooting of his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp, at his Pretoria home in the early hours of 14 February 2013. The Paralympic track star, known as the Blade Runner, disputed the charge. He was released on R1m bail on 22 February and appeared in court again on 4 June and 19 August. His trial started on 3 March 2014. Pistorius pleaded not guilty to all charges against him.
The world at large was kept informed on the case by the media coverage that took place in court after being granted broadcasting rights to courts proceedings provided that none of the witnesses’ faces be shown on any footage. Social networks are set alight with comments regarding the ruling of the court but till the sentencing which is a month away, we wait.
