Junior Graphic Retoucher – Salary market related
Wynberg & Plumstead, Southern Suburbs
The Junior Retoucher will be responsible for retouching images for print and digital campaigns, and performing Repro/DTP duties assigned by campaign requirements.
Qualifications & Accreditations
· Matric qualification
· 1-2 Year degree/diploma in Graphic Design or similar qualification will be an advantage
Experience & Skills
· A minimum of 6 months to 2 years working in Repro house, Advertising Agency, Photography Studio or Publishing house (with an repro department)
· A good understanding of colour reproduction of images
· Experience working in Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop is required
· Experience in Quark, Freehand, Fireworks, Dreamweaver will be an added advantage
· Must be able to work in a structured fast paced studio with very tight deadlines
· Computer literate/Mac Proficient
Key Performance Areas
Retouching
· Responsible for cutting paths, masking, deep-etching, compiling and retouching images for print and digital campaigns
· Responsible to download images from the Photographic server and upload the images to the Hi-Res server
· Create low res images
· Convert images to suit colour profile required by various campaigns
· Ensure the archiving of images takes place
· Perform quality checks on images
· Have the ability to see discrepancies between colour corrected images and non-colour corrected images and action accordingly
Administration
· Manage contact sheets and ensure the correct procedures are in place and is followed
· Ensure correct filing of images i.e. Naming of image files and maintain filling structure
· Assist in overseeing printers and their consumables
· Maintain a list of ‘unacceptable’ print jobs in conjunction with the Repro team
Relationships within team
· Take direction and instructions from senior retouchers and Creative Heads and Managers
· Analyse printing results to validate colour proofs
· Maintain a good relationship with Creative team, especially photographers and printers to ensure growth
· Drive constant innovation to enhance the brand, brand awareness and campaign effectiveness
Adhoc
Additional ad hoc tasks as required and instructed by Creative Heads and Managers
