Mangaliso Ngema Back Onscreen A Year After Sexual Harassment Allegations

Mangaliso Ngema Back Onscreen A Year After Sexual Harassment Allegations. It has been almost a year, since he was accused of sexual harassment. Mangaliso Ngema is back again to play the role of Caesar Mokwena, who is Africa’s wealthiest banker on Family Secrets.

The first season of Family Secrets drama series had a rich cast including Sonia Mbele, Sophie Ndaba, Sello Maake-ka Ncube and Menzi Ngubane. Ngema was also part of season I, something that let many people confused, because it was just a few months after his scandal. Some though, concluded that maybe the show was shot before the actor was fired for his alleged misconduct.

Family Secret is back for season II, and so is their lead actor Ngema. The veteran actor took to Instagram to announce the return of the SABC1 drama series. He shared pictures of himself and other cast members. No date has been released yet, but without a doubt him being cast again is going to ruffle some feathers.

Ngema made news in July 2020 after co-star Lorraine Moropa lodged a sexual harassment claim against him. According to Lorraine, she reported the matter to her employers earlier in the year and no action was taken against the perpetrator. After the actress took the matter to social media it got the attention it needed.

After much pressure from social media, Quizzical Pictures then released a statement that they have taken action against the accused actor, and that Lorraine was satisfied about it. Ngema was then fired from Lithapo, and many didn’t think they will see him onscreen anytime soon.

After a few weeks, Ngema took to social media to share with the public his side of the story. According him all of this started on Monday the 20th of this July when they were shooting a scene and he experienced a wardrobe malfunction. Ngema says his pants were too tight and he kept on examining himself to check if they were torn. That is when Lorraine made eye contact with him, and according to him she assumed he was playing with himself.

In another issue, they were shooting an intimate scene and Lorraine complained that even after the director said cut, he still had his hand around her hip. Ngema says although he found that some form of malice, he has since apologized to the actress for the sake of the production.
