10 Things Not To Do When Texting A Girl
So you’ve got her number and you are on speaking terms. Now you’re in the right position to lay your case and take it a step further. How you do this could make or break you though. You need to make sure that you press the right buttons and say the right things. Well here’s not what NOT to say. Guys take notes!!
1. Using Abbreviations
Abbreviations show a lack of effort. Yes texting is a casual platform, but you still have to be somewhat formal. Therefore spelling like a 12year old isn’t charming nor entertaining.
2. Last Minute Invitations
Asking a girl out over text is acceptable. But leave a grace period between when you hit send on your invitation and the actual night out. Give it at least three days. Girls need a lot of time to prepaire for dates and a night isn’t enough.
3. Being Dry
There’s no excuse for not sounding charming and hilarious over text. Limiting your conversations to lots of “haha!” and “cool” will lead her to believe that either you’re too lazy or just not funny and that’s when your chances of scoring go south. So leave the simple texts for your mom.
4. Giving One Word Responses
No matter how trivial the subject matter, if you like her, you will make an effort to form a proper response. Throw in an emoji for good measure. Never and I repeat, NEVER respond with just the letter “k” especially after she sends you a three-paragraph text.
5. Texting Your Feelings
If you have feelings to share, pick up the phone or run the risk of sounding pathetic. She’ll take you seriously and have some form of respect for the effort you put into it. Also, never start a text with “We need to talk,” “I’ve been meaning to tell you,” or “So I went to the doctor…”.
6. Playing Dirty
Overly sexual demands are the quickest way to turn her from hot to cold. “Send me a pic,” and “What ru wearing” sound juvenile and very pervy. That doesn’t mean she’s not willing to get a bit frisky. “It’s completely acceptable to sneak in the sexual as long as it is shrouded in humour. Ease your way into the topic gradually—and keep it light. Leave the rest for the bedroom.
7. Sloppy Drunk Messages
The only thing worse than the hangover resulting from your Saturday night blackout is the horror that hits you when discovering the texts you sent the night before. This move can be detrimental to your reputation and chances are she can no longer take you seriously or thinks you’re a pig. Put your phone away the minute you start drooling over your words and every hing is a bit funnier then usual.
8. Long Gaps Between Replies
Texting a person is a decision. so dot start a conversation if you’re not in the position to respond first enough to maintain the flow of a conversation. If you do this, she will intentionally let your texts stew or stop texting you all together.
9. Being Two Faced
There’s something about texting that gives people power. if you’re shy in person, don’t flip sides and act like a person you’re not. If she’s texting you she’s doing so because she wants to, so there’s no need to pretend. Also, if you come across as more into her when she ‘s around but you’re boring on text, chances are she’ll think you in it just for physical reasons.
10. Awkward Voice Notes
If the conversation started in text, finish it there. If you both see the need make a phone call rather than sending a voice note. Some text conversations get serious along the way and might need a more intimate and personal platform than texting. If you really “just wanted to hear her voice” dial the number.
