SANBI Graduate Opportunity: Assistant Project Manager

Interested in a Career in Biodiversity/Ecosystem Management?

The South African National Biodiversity Institute (SANBI) is looking for 1 Assistant Project Manager to provide Project Management support to the Groen Sebenza Project Management Unit in Pretoria.

The pioneer will be required to assist with the:

  • Research and analysis of project related data and content.
  • Design and management of databases related to the Groen Sebenza project. 
  • Assist with Monitoring and Evaluation functions of the programme.
  • Assist with project administrative and logistical arrangements for various forums.
  • Coordinating of and participation in regional/national forums and learning and development interventions

Requirements

Applications from rural, distressed and peri-urban unemployed youth from previously disadvantaged backgrounds are invited for the above positions.

 

Applicants need to have the following:

  • SA citizenship.
  • A national matriculation certificate and diploma or first B-degree in Environmental 
  • Management/ Project Management or related field. A post graduate qualification in related fields will be an advantage.
  • Project Management and Marketing skills
  • Research skills
  • Problem Solving, Communication, Negotiation and Organising. 
  • Report writing, 
  • Ability to develop and maintain on-line databases and information systems
  • Ability to work under pressure 
  • Deadline driven 
  • A commitment to career development in the environmental sector.
  • Fully computer literate and strong administration skills
  • Good leadership potential.
  • A driver’s license (an advantage)

 

The programme offers a stipend of R7,100.00 to graduates per month. Successful candidates will commit to a contract period with their host employer.

Candidates are expected to be available for interviews on a date and time determined by the SANBI Groen Sebenza Programme Office. If no response has been received within 21 days of the closing date, candidates may consider their applications unsuccessful.
