Responsibilities
Risk Management
Assist in monitoring the implementation of recommendations in the Audit Tracking Report and Strategic and Operational Risk Registers by:
- Seeking guidance from the Compliance Officer on what needs to be followed up
- Setting up appointments with the relevant people to follow-up on the status of implementation.
- Updating the Audit Tracking Report, Strategic Risk Register and Operational Risk Register monthly and report to the Compliance Officer.
Internal Audit
Shadow the Internal Audit Champion from the Audit, Risk & Governance (ARG) team. Follow the Champion’s guidance and learn on the job.
Once enough experience has been gained, execute the Champion’s duties on an internal audit, guided by the Compliance Officer.
Governance & Admin
Assist in the ARG team in the following:
Preparation for the Risk Management Committee and Audit & Risk Committee meetings quarterly.
Compilation of reports, as far as possible.
Overseeing the Inventory Management process led by the ARG team.
Initiate awareness initiatives for the Fraud Risk Management process.
Coordinating the Fraud Prevention Committee.
Monitoring the implementation of the Fraud implementation Plan.
The review and implementation of the Business Continuity Plan.
NOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Knowledge of and skill in applying risk management principles and practices.
Knowledge of the Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing and the Code of Ethics developed by the Institute of Internal Auditors.
Knowledge of the COSO Framework, Institute of Risk Management South Africa (IRMSA), its Code of Ethics and principles.
Skill in conducting quality control reviews on work performed.
Skill in collecting and analysing complex data, evaluating information and systems, and drawing logical conclusions.
Skill in planning and project management, and in maintaining composure under pressure while meeting multiple deadlines.
Skill in negotiating issues and resolving challenges.
Skill in using a computer with MS Office (word processing, spreadsheet and other business software to prepare reports, memos, summaries and analyses etc.)
Skill in effective verbal and written communications, including active listening skills and skill in presenting reports.
Ability to establish and maintain harmonious working relationships with co-workers, staff and other stakeholders, and to work effectively in a professional team environment.
Ability to adapt to change.
Ability to learn on the job and maximise the opportunity afforded.
Ability to be a team player and work independently where required.
Ability in having the initiative to start a task pro-actively.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION:
A Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management.
