The common perception about FET colleges s is a negative one. This is normally because it is considered inferior to Universities. But just like everything, Universities are not meant for everyone, some careers need you to have practical training at tertiary level. Te admission age for FETs is 16 and older, meaning a person who has passed Grade 9 can enroll too. The excuse of being too young or old therefore does not apply. 9. On application, the FET College student can apply for NSFAS bursary funded by the government however just like other bursaries there are stict qualifications to meet.
10. FETs have another category of education and training known as the Adult Education and Training – AET offered at General and Further Education levels but it is not usually occupational or vocational by nature. This form of education and training that is usually offered part time at Adult Learning Centres is aimed at persons wishing to achieve a senior certificate.
