South Africans Who Made Millions From Faking Their Qualifications. This is a case of fake it till you make it going totally wrong. When many people work had to get qualifications, there are others who sadly go the faking route. There has been a host of recent public scandals over civil servants and top executives with bogus qualifications.

Check out some of our prominent citizens who made millions by faking their qualifications. The good thing is that they got caught and exposed for their embarrassing deeds.

William Chandler

The former senior SAA pilot was fired for flying with a fraudulent license for more than 20 years. The airline discovered Chandler had been flying without a licence following an investigation into a “reportable incident” on a flight he piloted. Chandler was arrested on March 11 on charges of forgery and uttering.

Ellen Tshabalala

The former SABC chairwoman claimed to have a BCom and postgraduate degrees from the University of South Africa. A senior Unisa official had testified in Parliament, during an inquiry, that Tshabalala never obtained such qualifications from the institution. This forced Tshabalala to resign from the SABC board.

Pallo Jordan

The former Arts and Culture minister was exposed for misrepresenting himself as “Dr” when in he did not have a PhD. He admitted that he never obtained a degree from any US university as previously claimed and he quit his position in Parliament a few years ago.

Mohau Pheko

Former ambassador to Japan was also found to have lied that she had a PhD from a university in the US. Pheko admitted that she did not have such a qualification.

Daniel Mtimkulu

The former head of engineering at Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa Daniel Mtimkulu was also found to have lied about having a doctorate from a university in Germany.

Vincent Mdunge

The former KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson was jailed over a fake matric certificate. He was convicted in November 2014 of fraud and forgery for using a fake matric certificate to get his job, and to advance his career through studies at Unisa.
