Social Media Reacts to Pitch Black Afro Serving Only Three Years for His Wife’s Killing. In 2020, Thulani Ngcobo, popularly known as Pitch Black Afro received a 10-year prison sentence for culpable homicide. This was for the murder of his wife, Catherine Modisane. Guess what, three years later her is a free man.
In December 31, 2018, Ngcobo and his long-term partner Modisane were involved in an altercation after a drunken night out with friends. Upon their return to the lodge they were staying at in Yeoville, Modisane slapped Ngcobo who then retaliated back. He ended up pushing her forcefully resulting in a severe head injury.
The rapper was released from prison last Friday, after serving three years for killing his partner. He was granted a special remission of sentence.ย Special remission is granted to โlow-riskโ offenders, probationers, parolees and day parolees, irrespective of their crimes.ย It excludes those sentenced for aggressive, sexual, firearm and drug-related offenses, as well as escapees and absconders.
Weighing in on the matter, social media users in general are not happy about the news. Many reason that taking someone’s life is a serious crime, and doing just three years doesn’t cut it.
