Goalkeepers are essential in a squad, simply because they can save goals coming in from the opponent team. It doesn’t help to have a strong team and yet a very weak goalkeeper. That is why we have some of the world’s goalkeepers who strive to give it their all when representing their team. Here is a top ten list of the current best goalies.
10) Tim Howard
Tim is an American born goalkeeper who plays for English club Everton and the United States national team. Howard made his international debut back in March 2002 when the United States took on Ecuador.
9) Salvatore Sirigu
Salvatore is an Italian goalkeeper who plays for Ligue 1 Paris-Saint German and the Italian national team. He made his international debut in August 2007 in a friendly match against France.
8) Peter Cech
Peter is a 32 year old goalkeeper who plays for Premier League club Chelsea and the Czech national team. He made his senior debut with his country team in February 2002.
7) Thibaut Courtois
Thibaut is a 22 year old Belgian goalkeeper who plays for Premier League club Chelsea and the Belgium national football team. He made his début in November 2011 in a friendly 0–0 against France, making him the youngest goalkeeper to ever play for the Belgian national team.

Gianlugi is a 36 year old goalkeeper who plays and captains both Serie A Juventus and the Italian national football team. He was part of the Italian team that won the 2006 FIFA World Cup. He made his international debut back in 1997, when he was only nineteen.

Julio is a 35 year old Brazilian goalkeeper who plays for MLS club Toronto FC. He also represents the Brazil national team, having won 80 international caps. He made his international debut in 2003 when he was often called for backup.

Joe is a 27 year old English goalkeeper who plays for Manchester City and the England national football team. He made his debut for the senior team against Trinidad and Tobago, on 1 June 2008.

Hugo is a 26 year old French goalkeeper who plays for English club Tottenham Hotspur and is captain of the France national football team. He made his international debut when he received his first call-up to the senior national team for France’s 6 February 2008 match against Spain.

Iker is a 33 year old Spanish goalkeeper who plays for and captains La Liga Real Madrid and the Spain national team. Casillas is currently the most capped player in the history of the Spanish national team. He made his international debut at the senior level on 3 June 2000 against Sweden at the age of nineteen.

Manuel is a 28 year old German goalkeeper who plays for Bayern Munich and the Germany national football team. He made his international debut in June 2010. He is known for his reflexes, excellent shot stopping abilities and distribution of the ball.
