10 Benefits of being Single
Movies make some things look better than what they actually are. Yes, we all want those walks on the beach holding hands, to get flowers at the office and romantic dinners but if you think about it, how often does that actually happen and who has time to do all that in a week?! Being single on the other hand does not have to be lonely. You might not get sweet texts and flowers at the office but here are reasons why it better than being in a relationship.
More friends
People who are single have a better social life. They are free to mingle with more people because they are not confined to just one person all the time. The time an attached person would spend every weekend, they would spend with different people.
Managing finances
Relationships are expensive. If you had to add up the dinners out, vacations, gifts and favours that would amount to a lot of money. As a single person means you will be able to save more and use that money productively elsewhere.
Achieving more
More time to better yourself!!! In a relationship, most of time is spent with your significant other. If it’s not work its them. Including texting and calls in between. With being single comes the benefit of doing what you want with your extra time, such as looking into furthering your studies, taking up a new hobby and peaceful naps on Sunday afternoons.
As people we all have more than one interest, we just choose to be with one of them. As a single, you are free to test the waters with any of your potential interests without the guilt of cheating on some one. When you feel good and ready, then you can consider one of your potentials. That’s if you were looking. There s just no one to answer to when it comes to who you were with, where and why.
Freedom on social media
Having your significant other may have you feeling like what you say of do on social media is being watched. You just might get that “We need to talk” if you like some ones picture or you happen to be too friendly with a person too often. A single is free to like, comment, poke, retweet anyone because they have the liberty!!!
No more forced relationships
When dating someone, you end up having to form more relationships with his friends or family because they will be in your space most if the time. Chances are you will often be at places that you will be at too. It’s never just the two of you as the people around you are likely to be in your space often.
A guilt free night out with the girls/boys
We all love those long nights of nothing but fun with the gang, but chances are you needed to consult your significant other before you could go. If you’re lucky to get your visa, you spend the night looking at your watch and feeling guilty that you turned down a night watching movies. You probably have a curfew too or else you have to deal with the silent treatment the next morning.
The feeling of independence and freedom
You’re free to do whatever you want and when ever. If you feel like jumping into the car leaving for three days, no one will call and ask you where you are and why you didn’t tell them and when you’ll be back.
Less tears and arguments The only reason you would be crying is at a funeral. The drama that comes with a relationship can cause emotional lows for days because you spend a portion kof your time arguing because you feel misunderstood and you might just cry yourself to sleep a few times.
No compromising
As a single person your allowed to be selfish and do things purley because you want to. Your life is just about you and you can focus all your time and energy on being yourself and bettering yourself.
