Vacancy: Music Assistant at Gagasi FM
Gagasi FM has an exciting vacant position for a Music Assistant in Durban, Umhlanga Ridge (Reference: #MA)
Gagasi FM is the number one commercial radio station in KwaZulu Natal to reach the black urban and peri-urban black youth.
Key responsibilities:
Assist with the music and other audio output of the station
- Scheduling the music playlist of the station on a daily basis.
- Ensuring music playlist is in line with the strategic music policy
- Attending to music listening sessions and running music committee meetings.
- Assist on preparation for charts and special feature shows and ensuring that they are in line with current music policy.
- Making sure that the daily log is reflective of the needs of the station in terms of specific campaign requirements.
Research
- Assist the music manager with the implementation of auditorium research results and bi monthly call out research.
- Assisting with the preparation i.e. hooks and questionnaire for research and liaising with research company leading up for research.
- Amending music categories based on research results.
Ensuring the smooth operation of the music programming department
- Implementing the SAMRO South African percentage monthly requirements and ensuring the quota system is maintained according to our license agreement.
- Continuously improving your skills on selector and linker.
General
- Ensuring presenters adhere to scheduled playlist to clocks, not dropping music, adhering to playlist.
- Attending music listening sessions
- Submitting necessary info to SAMRO and SAMPRA on a monthly basis
- Keeping abreast of new music developments and up to date in terms of new releases
- Analysis of competitor music charts and music rotations and keeping abreast with new releases on TV music channels
- Analyzing weekly rotations and implementing improvements and suggesting changes
- Attending to DJ queries and requirement
Requirements
- Matric; Grade 12
- One year related experience or training as music programmer
- RCS music scheduling experience (advantageous)
Advantageous
- Proficiency in Excel, Word
- RCS Selector software competency
- Broad based knowledge of music
- Programming for a specific format
- Understanding of formatted radio
- Interpretation and analysis of data
- Extensive knowledge of all urban music genres
