Vacancy: Debt Collecting Clerk

Job Description Leisure Books requires the services of a committed and energetic person to fill the position for a Debt Collection Clerk at their Cape Town offices.  The successful candidate will report to the Debtors Team Leader.
Purpose of the Role :
The purpose of the job is to enhance the cash flow of the company, to minimizing bad debt and maximizing sales by collecting the overdue amounts, build and maintain customer relationships, as well as resolve any problems or queries, whilst giving support to other team members to achieve daily set targets.
Minimum Requirements •Grade 12 or equivalent

•Relevant Certificate/Diploma in Credit Management, Finance or Accounting (advantageous)

•At least 2 -3 years experience in debtors collections

•Proficiency in relevant software packages and applications

•Methodical

•Good written and verbal communication skills

•Good telephone etiquette

•Good problem solving ability

•Ability to work under pressure

•Excellent numeracy skills

•Results driven

Duties & Responsibilities •Meet and complete daily targets set by management on the reduction of the outstanding debt.

•Verify and follow up on invoices, statements and payments and ensure the timeous collection of outstanding/arrear accounts in accordance with collection procedures.

•The following Key competencies must be followed to optimize the collection rate and to meet the objectives:
-Confirm outstanding amount. -Obtain a commitment to pay -Confirm a date when o/s will be paid. -Find out reason(s) for nonpayment. -Arrange a follow up call.

•Report on potential bad debt
