A night to remember for Sibusio Vilakazi

The Absa Premiership League awards were held at Sandton Convention center on Sunday night, in Johannesburg. Hosted by SABC 1 sports presenters; Minenhle Dlamini alongside Thomas Mlambo, co-hosting with Supersports’s Robert Marawa and Carol Manana. It was a night filled with excitement and achievements for those who had participated in the 2013/2014 season.

Bidvest Wits player, Sibuso Vilakazi was ultimately the man of the night. The 24 year old was nominated in three categories and managed to scoop away all three awards, taking home R550 000 in one night. The young lad made his PSL debut in 20009 and has had two appearances in the national team so far. Groomed by the Bidvest Wits youth development structure, he has become an outstanding asset for the students side. In his acceptance speech he thanked his almighty for everything he had.

CATEGORIES AND WINNERS

Telkom Knockout

Player of the tournament award went to Mogakolodi Ngele (Platinum stars) walking away with R 200 000. Nominated in the same category was Lennox Bacela (Orlando Pirates) and Robert Ng’ambi (Platinum Stars).

MTN 8

The last man standing award went to Robert Ng’ambi (Platinum Stars) who took home R80 000. Nominated in the same category was Lennox Bacela(Orlando Pirates) and Vuyo Mere ( Platinum Stars).

Nedbank Cup challenge

Player of the tournament was Sibusiso Vilaki (Bidvest Wits) walking away with R 150 000. Nominated in the same category was Oupa Manyisa (Orlando Pirates) and Jabulani Shongwe (Bidvest Wits).

The award for the most promising player went to Kwando Mngonyama (Bidvest Wits) who took home R50 000. Nominated in the same category was Thabo Moloi (Supersports united) and Vincent Pule (African warriors).

National First Division

David Zulu (Black Leopards) received the top goal scorer award for the NFD side.

Absa PSL

The award for the player of the season went to Sibusiso Vilakazi(Bidvest Wits). Nomitated in the same category was Teko Modise (Mamelodi Sundowns) and Willard Katsande (Kaizer Chiefs).

Itumeleng Khune (Kaizer Chiefs) was again the goalkeeper of the season, banking R50 000. Nominated in the same category was Moeneeb Joseph (Bidvest Wits) and Anssi Jaakkola (Ajax Capetown).

PSL young player of the season was Keagon Dolly (Ajax Capetown) taking R50 000. Nominated in the same category was  Abbubaker Mobara (Ajax Capetown) and Gabadini Mhango (Bloemfontein Celtics).

The deservedly Pitso Mosimane (Mamelodi Sundwons) took away R 75 000 with the coach of the season award. Nominated in the same category was Cliver Barker (Mpumalanga Black Aces) and Sturat Baxter (Kaizer Chiefs).

Goal of the season went to Hlonpho Kekana (Mamelodi Sundowns) with R50 000. Nominated in the same category was Knowledge Musona (Kaizer chiefs) and Puleng Tlolane ( Polokwane City).

Top goal scorer of the season was Bernard Parker who only scored 10 goals in this Season. He walked away with R25 000.

The grand football player of the season went to Sibusiso Vilakazi (Bidvest Wits). Banking a whooping R250 000.

Other awards included match officials of the season , taken by Zolile Mthetho  (referee of the season)and Edward Madidilane (assistant referee of the season).
