On the 11th of August, the late Mama Connie, was honored with a Posthumous Lifetime Achievement Award by The Directors Guild of South Africa (DGSA). The first ever Directors Guild of South Africa Creatives Awards were initially planned for November 2025. They aim to spotlight the country’s talented directors making waves both locally and internationally. Other stars who were honoured include Connie Ferguson and Thabo Rametsi.

Mama Connie was honored for her legacy that continues to inspire and shape South African storytelling. She is described as an extraordinary gift transcended performance, who embodied truth, dignity, and emotional depth in every role she portrayed.

As directors, we often say that great storytelling lives in collaboration, and few artists understood that better than Mhe Connie. Her craft made our visions possible, her interpretations gave our stories heart, and her presence elevated every frame she touched.
