Joburg Pride Team Releases a Statement Regarding Their Saturday Scheduled March. A day ago, the US Embassy issued a statement warning the public of Sandton terror attack for Saturday. This came about after the US government received information that terrorists may be planning to conduct an attack targeting large gatherings of people at an unspecified location in the greater Sandton area of Johannesburg on 29 October 2022.

The US Embassy has advised staff to avoid crowds of people and other large public gatherings in the greater Sandton area of Johannesburg during the weekend of 29-30 October 2022,” the Embassy stated.

Unfortunately there were some events planned and on of them is the much anticipated Johannesburg Pride march, which always attract thousands of people. The Pride event celebrates amongst other things advocacy, activism and equality in the LGBTQI community with assortment of bright colors and smiles.

Releasing a statement on their social media pages, the Johannesburg Pride team stated they are aware of the information released by the US Embassy, and that they will communicate in due course.

The wait is finally over as the organizers have just revealed that they taken a decision to continue with the 33rd Johannesburg Pride March as planned. This is despite warnings of terrorism attacks issues by the U.S. embassy. In a statement the organizers said postponing pride was hard, as much as continuing with it was. After assessing the situation they decided that it’s essential to march as planned.
