Green Learnership Programme at The Innovation Hub
The Innovation Hub Management Company (SOC) Ltd (TIH) and Media, Information and Communication Technology Sector Education Training Authority (MICT SETA) are launching a Low Carbon Economy Learnership Programme for unemployed and business-minded graduates.
The programme will focus on New Venture Creation (NQF Level 5) in the Green Economy Sector. The programme will include a combination of academic and practical skills training by experienced business mentors and leadership coaches. The programme will also include business management, administration, emotional Intelligence and leadership coaching.
Participants will learn to think creatively and find innovative solutions for the challenges in the Green Economy. Pparticipants will have the opportunity to choose between careers in the Green Economy industry or start entrepreneurial ventures with the support of the Climate Innovation Centre (CIC) at TIH.
The Innovation Hub Management Company (SOC) Ltd is a subsidiary of the Gauteng Growth and Development Agency (SOC) Ltd (an initiative by the Gauteng Provincial Government for investing in strategic economic infrastructure and investment promotion to unlock economic growth in Gauteng). The Innovation Hub is the first Science and Technology Park in Southern Africa, established to spur the growth of smart industries in Gauteng to create a truly ‘smart’ province.
REMUNERATION: Learners will be paid a monthly stipend of R5,000.
DURATION: The programme will run over a period of 12 months.
FOCUS AREAS:
Applicants should identify 1 (one) area of focus from the following:
Renewable energy
Energy efficiency
Clean technologies
QUALIFYING CRITERIA:
FET Diploma, National Diploma, BSC in Electrical/ Electronic/ Mechanical Engineering;/p>
Academic aggregate of no less than 75%;
Below the age of 35;
South African citizens with a valid South African ID;
Computer literate;
Not registered on any other Learnership/ Internship Programme;
Not permanently employed.

The applicant must forward a letter of motivation (maximum of 300 words/ 1 page), detailing why they should be considered for this programme; previous experience in the Low Carbon Economy field, current and/ or previous project in the field; area of interest;
A comprehensive CV, accompanied by certified copies of the following:
ID;
Grade 12 certificate;
Tertiary qualifications;
Academic transcripts.
The following checks with be conducted:
Credit and criminal record;
Reference with previous employers;
Verification of educational qualifications;
Proof of South African citizenship.
