“Please Don’t Refer To Us As Albino It’s Very Derogatory,” Refilwe Modiselle. Quite a number of times, Refilwe Modiselle has used her popularity to educate the masses on some facts about albinism. Unfortunately, no matter how much she and other people put out information, there are still those who always get it wrong. The great thing though, is that this has not stopped Refilwe from constantly sharing valuable information about the skin condition.

One thing that the multi-award winning actress, media personality and model always emphasizes, is to not call people with albinism, ‘albinos’. Refilwe has just corrected one tweep who wanted to know if there are any “albino” models in South Africa. As people dropped names of models, Refilwe popped in to teach the tweep a thing or two about albinism.

“Please don’t refer to us as “albino” it’s very derogatory. Come correct please it’s person(s) with albinism. Correct referral is models with albinism. Thanks for coming to my #TEDtalk,” Refilwe said.
