How To Meet A Deadline

When it comes to work a person can get lost in doing one project for longer than they should. When you want to meet your deadlines you need to set goals and priorities, before you can calculate how much time you need to complete the project at hand, you should identify when it’s due.

If it’s a big project you need to break it into smaller sub-tasks (e.g. As the event coordinator you need to divide it into getting a venue, finding caterer, finding the furniture and etc), so that you don’t get confused and you don’t repeat the sub-tasks over again. After breaking it down you should have the TO-DO LIST were you will tick each sub-tasks completed.

Most of the times we are afraid to ask for help because we feel like we have failed ourselves, but truly speaking, when handling big project one needs help, so don’t be afraid to ask for help from your colleagues. Remember to look at the bigger picture, which is to deliver a great job. Stay in contact with your team to check that you are on the same page (communication is important in a team).

Communicating with your client it’s most important, it allows you to update and check with them to see if there are any changes to be made, or telling them about the ideas you think might be useful for the project.

Eliminate distractions at all cost, like being on Facebook or twitter instead of work as we know every minute counts. Remember those college days when you used to wait for the last minute to do your assignment? Well avoid doing that, start with your project as soon as possible, so that you can have more time to fix mistakes, if any.

Setting a start up time or day, allows you to start when you are ready and energized. While you are at it, set up an ending time or day when the project has to be completed.
