A delegation of opposition Party visits Marikana


According to News24 opposition party president Mosiuoa Lekota of Cope will be leading the delegation.He will be joined by Willie Madisha from Cope, Nhlanhla Msimango from IFP, Letlapa Mphahlele and Bennet Joko from PAC, Wilmot James from DA, Kenneth Meshoe from the ACDP, M Moerane from United Christian Democratic Party,Jake Dikobo and Strike Thokwane from Azapo and the leader of UDM Bantu Holomisa will also joined the delegation.
A delegation is expected to visit Marikana, in the North West today, where 34 miners were shot by police last week.
“The purpose of the visit is to do inspection in loco, in order to ascertain what transpired during the industrial action last week,” said acting Cope deputy general secretary Mokgadi Raganya.

“The delegation is intending to meet with union leaders, SAPS and mine management as part of their visit.”

“This will be followed by a visit to the families of the deceased and the injured in hospital.”
