Idols

Shekhinah was among the Top 32 of MNET’s Season 7 of SA Idols in 2011 and also finished in the Top 6 of MNET’s Season 8 of SA Idols in 2012. She managed to shine as a talented teenager who was, at the time, still in high school.

Awards And Nominations

In 2016 Shekhinah won the MTV Africa Music Award for Best Pop & Alternative. She was also nominated in 22nd South African Music Awards in 2016 under Best Collaboration with Kyle Deutsch on Back to the Beach. The same song also bagged her a nomination for Best Hit Single at the Metro awards in 2016.

Getting In Studio With Jason Derulo

Shekhina represented South Africa in the African edition of Coke Studio in Kenya. She was the only South African artist asked to join in on this collaboration. She spent a week in Kenya working alongside American RnB musician Jason Derulo, the two spent their time writing, sharing and crafting magic in studio.
