Masechaba Ndlovu Gets Candid About Her Upbringing. A story makes better sense when you get it from the horse’s mouth. Media personality Masechaba Ndlovu has taken to social media to share her background with her followers.
According to her, she and her sister were both born in Zambia, 5 years apart, to 2 MK soldiers (ANC’s military wing, uMkhonto weSizwe). “uMkhonto had applied in 2 different countries (Germany & the USA) for our mother’s TV/Radio Scholarship (1989) when she was already in Amsterdam (Holland) and these did not cover us and our dad. Upon hearing of our predicament, the Lekalake family collectively moved in to help,” she explained.
She continued, “Their controversial and extremely dangerous PLAN was a RESCUE MISSION to SMUGGLE myself (age 5) and my new-born sister, Modiehi, into the belly of the beast (apartheid S.A) by using the BRAVEST of them ALL, my late Aunt Kedisaletse, who connived with Ntate Babsy Mlangeni (the legendary musician) to utilize his children’s passport for the daring mission. This was a humble gesture from both the Lekalake’s and Mlangeni families aimed at according our mother an opportunity to undergo her overseas Studies.”
In conclusion Masechaba said, “After close to a year of our mom being alone in the USA, She organized a Scholarship for our father to come join her in America and also organized schooling for me in Oakland, California. My sister remained behind with my Grandmother in Dube, Soweto, because she was a baby. So we were raised in 2 different continents until we were reunited again many years later, post democracy.
