Fashion Do’s and Don’ts of Spring
It’s that time of the year again when you flip your wardrobe. All the warm and fussy goes to the back and as we head into spring, the look is all about being light and leisurely. Embrace spring fashion’s fun colours and breezy fabrics but beware fashion mishaps. Here’s our guide to being a fashion vixen instead not a fashion victim!
DO’S
Bold Lip Colour
Nothing says spring like a bold lip. If you’re on too sure how to go about it, try out a few lip lolours and you’re sure to find your match.
Crop Tops
With the weather starting to warm up is okay to show a bit of skin. Though it may not be for all body types, it can be paired with anything from jeans to high wasted pants or pencil skirts.
Invest in a killer pair of oversize sunglasses
Go for the Audrey Hepburn or Jackie O look with big shades, available in a variety of styles.
Sheer & Mesh
If you’re not comfortable with a crop top, sheer or mesh panels are another way to show some skin. Choose from different items such as pants, tops and dresses!
Show off those legs!
We’re not talking micro-minis; elegant pencil skirts are the way to go.
Prints & Pastels
Prints and pastels are the top trends of the season, mix and match them for a fun look or pear them with solid colours such as black or even denim.
Invest in a LWD – Little white dress
The Little black dress may be the go to dress when it’s time to paint the town red but a white dress paired with the right accessories will give you some elegance paired with the right shoes too.
T-shirt dresses with fun, vibrant prints
They’re all the rage this season but make sure you find the right fit.
Opt for modern metallic accessories
Add a hit of silver or gold to your wardrobe in the form of belts, hair bands or sexy sandals.
DON’TS
Hi-Lo Skirts
It’s been 2 years since this skirt came into the scene and it’s a trend that’s been over worn and is no longer a Spring DO.
Over Layering
It’s Spring , let’s save the layers for the Fall/Winter seasons.
Too High Heels
DON’T wear heels that are too high for you to walk in.Nothing’s worse than not being comfortable in your own shoes.
Go lighter on the perfume
Don’t continue to wear your heavy winter perfumes. Bring out the sexy, sweet, floral scents.
Tutus
It was cute last year but it’s time to let it go and move on to better things.
Nasty feet
Don’t go out with dry ashy heels. If you’re going to wear open shoes of sandals make sure your heels are not cracked and are lotioned thoroughly. Some nail polish wouldn’t hurt either, it doesn’t have to be bright in colour, clear nail polish will give the impression that your toes are taken care of too.
Dark Colours
It’s time to push the dark colours to the back of the closet and replace them with a few brighter season appropriate colours. Try adding some coral, yellow, and neons to your everyday look.
Hairy Armpits
Please please and PLEASE shave your arm pits. Sleeveless clothing is big during the spring season and people love to let the sun kiss their skin. However, it’s always n unpleasant sight when a lady waves in public only to show her hairy pits. Let’s avoid the awkward moment by just keeping it clean and shaven.
