Mduduzi Mdakane On What Convinced Him To Join DiepCity

Mduduzi Mdakane On What Convinced Him To Join DiepCity. He is one of the actors who ushered in 2021, with new shows. When a lot of Rhythm actors are wondering where their next project will come from, Mduduzi Mdakane is already set with a lead role in a new telenovela. He is part of the DiepCity cast, which started airing on the 5th of April 2021.

Mdakane plays the devilish Bra Elliot a criminal who has been terrorizing the community for years. He uses four young women from humble backgrounds who have been forced into crime while in high school, just to make ends meet. Other cast members include Dawn Thandeka King, Nozuko Ncayiyane and Hamilton Dhlamini. DiepCity is produced by the award-winning creator and director of popular drama Lockdown, Mandla N of Black Brain Productions.

Mdakane is blessed to be on such a show which is taking the country by storm. Without a doubt, most actors would definitely do anything to be on such a production like DiepCity. Mdakane explained to tagged Magazine that he took the role of Bra Elliot because he likes the way Mandla N works. He also stated that DiepCity is different from other telenovelas, which are not always relatable.

I was convinced to take this role because I like the way Mandla N [producer and director] works,” he says. “But I also joined because we do not have shows like it in this country. A lot of telenovelas that have come out in recent years show a lot of people in suits and in boardrooms and in estates. If we’re committed to edutainment, we must reflect the lives of people on the ground too,” Mdakane said in an interview on Tagged Magazine.

His work and talent also speaks for itself, as he has been on a lot of shows. Mdakane’s accolades include winning the Golden Horn for Best Supporting Actor in a TV Soap for his role as Suffocate at the 3rd Annual South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTAs), in 2009.

Mdakane’s other television credits include Zone 14, A Place Called Home, Yizo Yizo 2, Justice For All 4, Soul City, Heartlines: Grace and Chicken Biznis.

His movies include Hotel Rwanda (2004), Catch a Fire (2006), Meokgo and the Stickfighter (2006) and Blood Diamond (2006). Mdakane appeared in Divide and Rule, a theatre production that toured Europe in 1992. Other theatre credits include Cry The Beloved Country, Madiba’s Magic, Behind the Curtains, Shaka Zulu and Tasha On The Rocks
