Hatchbacks have always been the most affordable cars, and which amounts to many people buying them. In this list we take a look at the top selling hatchbacks in South Africa.
1)Volkswagen Polo vivo
Polo vivo is supermini car produced by the German manufactures. It is available with a choice of two 1.4 engines (55 kW & 63 kW) and a 1.6 engine (77 kW). The Polo Vivo is released in both 3-door and 5-door versions, or as a saloon.In comparison to the Polo Mk4, the Polo Vivo has a restyled front bumper and grille, deleted scuff strips on the bumpers and sides of the car, and side indicators relocated from the wing mirrors to the front fenders. This restyling gives the Polo Vivo some of the elements of the design language used in other contemporary VW models. It is manufactured at VW’s Uitenhageplant in South Africa sources 70% of the Vivo parts locally.
2) Toyota Etios
The Toyota Etios is a line of four-door sedan and hatchback cars produced by Japanese automobile manufacturer. An Etios Concept sedan with 1.5-liter gasoline engine and an Etios Concept hatchback with 1.2-liter gasoline engine were unveiled in 10th Auto Expo automobile show in New Delhi. The Etios Hatch 1.5 Flex has a fuel economy with ethonal fuelof 8.13 km/l (23.0 mpg; 19.1 mpg–), the Hatch 1.3 Flex fuel economy is 9.45 km/l (26.7 mpg 22.2 mpg), and the Etios Sedan 1.5 Flex is 9.84 km/l (27.8 mpg–; 23.1 mpg–), all in combined cycle 70% city driving and 30% on the highway. But the vehicle comes with Front and Side Impact Beam for safety and Traction Control.

4)Volkswagen Golf 7
The Golf Mk7 has a roomier cabin, with greater shoulder room for the front and rear passengers, rear legroom and boot space. It features a number of new safety systems, including a multi-collision braking system to automatically brake the car after an accident in order to avoid a second collision, adaptive cruise control including an emergency braking function, a lane-keeping assistant, driver fatigue detection, traffic sign recognition and an automatic parking system. Available body styles are three and five door hatchbacks (including high-performance Golf GTI and Golf R models), a five-door estate, and a five-door Sportsvan (which replaces the Golf Plu).
