Euphonik 1 011

Youth Village: How is DJ Euphonik doing in 2014?

DJ Euphonik: Business wise I have a few projects spanning from snacks to Superga sneakers to clubs and property that I dabble in and on the international front I’ll be going to Switzerland, Miami, Spain and Holland. And recently I have opened a clothing store called Debut with DJ Kent in Braamfontein.

Youth Village: Who did you grow up looking up to?

DJ Euphonik: I admire my parents. I’ve watched them turn something out of absolutely nothing.

Youth Village: When did you develop an interest in music beyond appreciating it as a listener?

DJ Euphonik: I collected a lot of music when I was younger and when I started DJing at friends birthday parties I would look at the smiles on people’s faces when I played a certain song and it made me understand what music can do.

Youth Village: Favourite track at the moment?

DJ Euphonik: Right now it’s my Track Busa with Bob Ezy & Mpumi.

Youth Village: What do you do in your spare time?

DJ Euphonik: I’m a lover of all sorts of music, I love to read and research things I’m not too clued up on. I love my family and I’m very focused on whatever it is I put my heart to.

Youth Village: What are some of the challenges you come across in your field of work?

DJ Euphonik: It’s difficult to change people’s perceptions of what roof top is when it comes to how big the industry can be. People are so used to doing things the good old fashion way and there’s very few risk takers.

Youth Village: How do you deal with criticism and bad publicity?

DJ Euphonik: I look at the positive ends of it and don’t let it get to me.

Youth Village: What have you learned about the entertainment industry?

DJ Euphonik: You have to stay true to yourself otherwise the industry will chew you up and spit you out.

Youth Village: Your all-time favourite DJ?

DJ Euphonik: Currently I’m inspired by the likes of the Swedish House Mafia, Avicii and Lady Gaga. I’m inspired by people who push the boundries and do things out of the norm.

Youth Village: Which website do you visit when you are online?

DJ Euphonik: I like to google a lot. And I like to go onto Youtube to look up things I don’t know a lot about.

Youth Village: What was your first car?

DJ Euphonik: A blue Polo.

Youth Village: If money wasn’t an object which car would you be driving and why?

DJ Euphonik: Rolls Royce Wrath. I’ve seen videos on how the car is made and any car that takes 6 months to make must be very special.

Youth Village: If you could invite any 5 famous people to dinner, who would they be?

DJ Euphonik: Albert Einstein, The Coch brothers, the Mexican richest man, Dhali lama and Nelson Mandela

Youth Village: What is your biggest achievement so far?

DJ Euphonik: Being able to go to bed excited about waking up the next day and do what I love. I’m a beast of passion so I never touch what I don’t enjoy and I’ve never had to.

Where do you see yourself in five years time?

DJ Euphonik: I’ll still be doing the same thing but at a far greater scale than I am right now.

Youth Village: What advice do you have for other aspiring young DJs?

DJ Euphonik: It’s so cliché and boring but I always say “do what you love and love what you do”. Like me now, nothing sways me from my dreams and goals. When you love what you are doing even the most difficult things in the world seem like obstacles rather than barriers.
