Mihlali Ndamase Apologizes For Her Looting Joke. A day ago she left tweeps divided over her joke. Mihlali Ndamase tweeted When are we looting Merc?, a joke that had many coming for her. Her fans on the other hand defended her, saying she was joking just like most people do on social media.
As the country is currently going through the most, some public figures are using their social standing to weigh in on the current state of affairs. The likes of Jub Jub, Thuso Mbedu, Ntsiki Mazwai and so many others are using social media to share their thoughts and possible solutions to the violet riots and looting incidents. On the other hand, Mihlali tried to make situation more bearable with her joke, which of course didn’t go down well with some people.
After the backlash, Mihlali deleted the tweet, and wrote an apology afterwards. The influencer and multi-award winning content creator stated that she did not anticipate the harm that her tweet will eventually cause. She also said that Mercedes Benz is one of her favorite car brands, and she adores them, hence the joke.
“With immediate retraction, I’d like to apologize on the tweet I published earlier. I jokingly put that out without considering the harm it may cause given my position. The intent wasn’t to be insensitive,” Mihlali said.
