Along with the production the guys have maintained their DJ schedule playing all over the U.K. and overseas.

Here’s a list of things you may have or may have not known about The Layabouts:

2. The Layabouts have been producing Deep and Soulful House Music together for about 10 years and have become great friends during their journey.

3. Both the members of The Layabouts  studied Sound Engineering – I went to City of Westminster Uni and also took up workshops in Islington.

4. The Layabouts get a lot of their production ideas from Pensado’s Place. “I’d like to send anybody that hasn’t seen or heard of this to Pensado’s Place. It’s a weekly show hosted by top mix engineer Dave Pensado. I’m totally hooked and a lot of my friends in the recording business are as well. Every week, they have a guest on and talk mixing and tracking techniques along with some really insightful tips on mixing.”

5. “The label, Reel People Music, gets about twenty demos a week from South Africa. Some are very good but ultimately with us it’s about the song. If we like the song, we can then take it from there. Locally though we’ve worked with Zonke and Zakes Bantwini on a project for the Hennesey Artistry tour. “

6. Lee is the one who works on the studio computer and the techy side of things.

7. Alex plays the keys and does other stuff on the musical side, then Oli (Oli Lazarus, Reel People) helps us out with arrangement and will also advise when it comes to a suitable vocalist.

8. Their different yet similar views on their music helped them come up with the name of their album “Future Retro”- We remixed a song called Sure for Reel People. The remix had a different sound to it and when we were trying to describe it Lee said, “Future” and I said, “Retro” and the name stuck.
