As a job seeker, landing an interview is a step closer towards getting the job. Appearance is what creates your first impression so the way you look when you show up could make or break your chances. Even if you sound good and you’ve got all your facts straight, the person interviewing you can easily write you off because you don’t look the part. Obviously not all jobs require you show up in a suit and tie or stockings, but I believe it’s a must for any interview.

Lawyers are not big on colours. Especially when in court, their main colours are black, blue and white.

2. Interviewing for a Receptionist, PA or Administrator position

Receptionists are the face of a company. Therefore they always need to look presentable in a professional outfit paired with a consistent smile.

Constriction workers are not always in the office hence they are always in safety gear. The interview look would therefore still need to be neat and presentable.

4. Interviewing at a media company position

People who work in the media industry are creatives. As you may know, they are known to dress very comfortably and sometimes according to their moods. However for the sake of impressions at the interview, a person should dress comfortably but also be presentable enough to show that they take the interview seriously.

Engineers work with their hands most times, so working with your hands while in a suit could be uncomfortable. The dress style to work is always comfortable in clothes that will allow room for comfortable clothing. For interview purposes however, its advisable to look smart casual if not completely formal.
