2014 Top 10 Kicks (Sneakers)
I have been seeing really great kicks on the streets of Johannesburg lately. Starting the year with the right gear on your feet contributes to stepping into the year the right way. Here are my Top 10 Sneakers that every sneaker wearing male should have in their closet:
Nike Air Tech Challenge II
2013 saw Andre Agassi return to Nike. The market saw the early benefits of his resigning with “Tech Pack” and “Wimbledon” releases of the Nike Air Tech Challenge II. This court classic was teased more than relaunched in ’13, and we’re hoping to see much more from the model in 2014. Even with the pink these high tops are a great buy.
Air Jordan 6
The Air Jordan 5 reigned in ’13, will its successor have the same successful run in ’14? Only time will tell, but it’s been a while since we’ve seen the 6 on the shelves. If the Air Jordan 6 can take as well to OG and new colorways as the AJ5 did, then it’s in for a big year. Can only imagine how hard it may be to clean these but a great buy is never regretted.
Adidas Stan Smith
The Adidas Stan Smith came back for New York Fashion Week in 2013 but was gone in a jif. Look for the tennis favorite to have a big year in 2014, with this Neighborhood Collab kicking things off. Brown leather on a sneaker has never looked sexier.
Bun B x Supra “Trill” Pack
SUPRA, Bun B and the H-Town Sneaker Summit came together to collaborate on two shoes that pay tribute to the 2013 NBA All-Star game. Have the best of both high and low top in great colours.
Nike Big Nike Low “Houston Space City”
Boasting a planetary ring on the heel, this version of the Nike Big Nike Low pays tribute to Houston, Texas, and in particular, the Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center and Mission Control. Even though space may seem a little childish, this combo is just crazy.
Reebok Twilight Zone Pump “Pump Black/White-Reebok Red”
This is one high top sneaker you need to be seen in. Red, black and white never looked better.
Air Jordan Retro 3 “Infrared 23”
Ladies have made prints their best friends, pair these sneakers with a great pair of black jeans and a great print sweater and you’re on par with the trends of 2014.
