Players Who Have Won The FIFA World Player Award More Than Once

The FIFA World Player of the Year Award is an association award presented to the player voted as best in the world by coaches and captains of international teams. It began in 1991 as an award for the best men’s player in the world In a voting system based on positional voting, each coach has three votes, worth five points, three points and one point, and the winners are ordered based on total number of points.

The youngest player to have won the award is Ronaldo who first won it at the age of 20 in 1996. The most country players to have won the award are players from Brazil. Here are some players who have won the award more than once.

1) Zinedine Zidane

Zinedine is a retired footballer who played for the French national team. He currently coaches a French team called Real Madrid Castilla. During his game time he played for Juventus and Real Madrid. Zidane was part of the France national team that won the 1998 FIFA World Cup. He has won the FIFA World Player Award three times, in 1998, 2000 and 2003.

2) Ronaldo

Ronaldo is a retired Brazilian football player. During his game time he played for; PSV Eindhoven, Barcelona, Inter Milan, Real Madrid, AC Milan and Corinthians. He was part of the Brazilian squad that won the 1994 FIFA World Cup. Ronaldo has won the FIFA World Player Award three times, in 1996, 1997 and 2002.

3) Ronaldinho

Ronaldinho is a Brazilian footballer who is currently playing for Atletico Mineiro. He has played for; Gremo, Paris-Saint Germain, Barcelona, Milan and Flamengo. He was part of the Brazilian team that won the 2002 FIFA World Cup. Ronaldinho has won the FIFA World Player Award twice, in 2004 and 2005.

4) Lionel Messi

Lionel is an Argentine footballer who plays for Barcelona and the Argentina national team. He serves as the captain for his country side squad. Messi was part of the young Argentina squad that won the FIFA U-20 World Cup. He is the youngest player ever who has won the FIFA World Player Award four times, in 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012.
