The top event to witness before the glamorous Durban July this year was the Mtv Africa music awards. Ironically they were hosted in Durban too on the 7th of June 2014. For most of us who didn’t make it to Durban, we got to witness the action on Dstv Channel 130. With 13 different categories and awards up for grabs the venue was filled with a buzz of anticipation.

Hosted by international stand-up comic and film star Marlon Wayans, the crowd was kept entertained and on their feet with performances from local artists such as the legendary Lady Smith Black Mambazo, Professor, Mafikizolo, Uhuru and Oskido. International stars that blessed the stage were R&B singer Trey Songs and Miguel and hip hop star French Montana who came with his rumored girlfriend Khloe Kardashian, alongside Nigerian artists Dibanj, David Flavour and Tiwa Savage. Social networks were buzzing with comments on the performance of Lady Smith Black Mambazo who added an interesting twist to their act.
Local and international celebrities were spotted on the red carpet in all sours of outfit, some more entertaining than others. Dj Zinhle wore a blue suite showing off her beautiful long legs, with a gold camy. Somizi was his flamboyant self in an outfit that tuned heads as usual with what looked like a half shirt half leather shirt with a chain detail, Star Trek haram pants and knee high boots.
